Zero Waste to Landfill
Essex Solutions has embraced efforts to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfill. Our teams are working towards Zero Waste to Landfill status at all locations globally, and within our downstream management operations. By achieving this status globally we can reduce our environmental impact caused by the disposal of materials and turn waste into a valuable resource through beneficial reuse.

Zero Waste Plants
Internal analysis has found nine of 14 plants have achieved Zero Waste to Landfill status.
100%
Diversion at 6 Plants
Plants in China, Germany, Japan, North America, and Serbia are at 100% Zero Waste to Landfill.
98%
Global Diversion
Through recycling, waste to energy efforts, and water treatment we diverted 45,000MT from landfill.

Greening Phenolic Production
Essex has reworked the process used to produce our phenolic resin intermediate. The resulting benefits are reduced environmental impact while also reducing the quantity of chemical types needed.
Looking at formulaic composition through each step of our supply chain is another example of the commitment made to sustainability.
MPC Saves 30,000 Gallons of Water
The Metals Processing Center (MPC) added another layer to its filtration system, a sidestream filter that aids in removing impurities, and reduces water waste.
As a result of the new practice, the MPC is saving almost 30,000 gallons of water annually. A reduction of 75% as it had previously been using 40,000 and it is now down to just 10,000.
For a plant to achieve Zero Waste to Landfill status, 98-100% of all waste leaving the facility must be diverted from landfill as well as from the downstream material management organization accepting the waste stream.
