Water Conservation
Essex Solutions believes that water scarcity is critical to public health and as a corporate citizen we plan to set water conservation goals to address this issue. With manufacturing locations on three continents we have an obligation to protect local water supplies in order to increase the longtime viability of those communities in which we operate.
Commendation for Environmental Efforts
Our facility in Torreón, Mexico was recognized by the Coahuila state government for its compliance with environmental responsibilities and operating excellence.
It has been compliant with the annual operating certificate (COA) process since 2001 and was one of the only manufacturing companies to be awarded the distinction.
Our proprietary clarifying process converts grey water into a 100% potable option for use in the production process and is being discussed with local leaders as a municipality treatment option.
MPC Saves 30,000 Gallons of Water
The Metals Processing Center (MPC) added another layer to its filtration system, a sidestream filter that aids in removing impurities, and reduces water waste.
As a result of the new practice, the MPC is saving almost 30,000 gallons of water annually. A reduction of 75% as it had previously been using 40,000 and it is now down to just 10,000.
Torreón Reduces Resource Impact
According to a report from the United Nations, water shortages will affect 2.7 billion people by 2025, which means 1 out of every 3 people in the world will be affected by this problem. It is substantially worse in Torreón and other parts of Mexico.
Our plant in Mexico has been able to demonstrate a reduced water usage by around 150 cubic meters per day (39,625 gallons per day) since the implementation of its grey water initiative.
