Essex Solutions (formerly Essex Furukawa) has recently completed the reconfiguration of its Simcoe, Ontario, Canada facility to dedicate more space to its continuously transposed conductor (CTC) production. This strategic move is part of the company’s continued focus on operational excellence and will allow the Simcoe location to better serve CTC clients and the expanding energy market growth in North America.
“We are excited to increase our production lines, grow our team and add jobs to the Simcoe area. This ramp up of CTC output is vital to meet the growing needs of our customers,” said Jared Rowntree, President Magnet Wire North America. “Our Simcoe plant has been an integral part of our growth in North America as well as within the energy market. By making these moves, we believe it will set that team up for long, sustained success. We have asked a lot of the team there and they have answered the call.”
With the new plant configurations, Essex has streamlined the production processes to better take advantage of its vertical integration and continue its efforts towards Vision 2030 core values of Disruptive Innovation, Green Production and Agile Digitization. The new layout at the facility has resulted in additional lines and capacity, allowing the company to meet a growing demand for custom CTC product by clients in the energy market.
“This is a significant improvement to our operations,” Rowntree added. “I think everyone is excited about what this means for our future.”
The energy market is expected to continue growing, with increasing demand for energy worldwide as populations grow and economies develop. In North America, an annual growth rate between 5-8% is expected–depending on the specific application. The expected growth is driven by a combination of factors, including falling costs of renewable energy technologies, increasing demand for clean energy sources, supportive policies and regulations, and improvements in energy storage and grid integration technologies.
CTC products have proven to be a markedly better alternative to conventional conductor options in power transformer applications. The Simcoe facility’s focus on quality and dependable customer service is crucial to serving the market that powers our homes and communities. This capacity and capability expansion will continue to drive reliable partnerships for the manufacturers of critical infrastructure.
Essex Solutions also produces custom CTC products out of its facility in Quattordio, Italy to support the European energy market. The Essex Energy Italy location was also recently added to the Essex Solutions entity as part of the larger global magnet wire rebrand. Combined efforts at these locations reinforces the company’s global reach and capabilities in the CTC market and energy sector. This integration will enable Essex Solutions to leverage the expertise and resources of all its locations, ensuring enhanced customer service and support.
